Astrium has developed several Mars Rover ’breadboard models’ to examine a number of engineering solutions for the ExoMars rover. Two of these, namely ‘Bridget’ and ‘Bruno’, have been used extensively to test the locomotion and autonomous navigation systems. Designed to roam across the Martian terrain, the ExoMars rover will search for signs of life, past or present, on and under the surface of Mars.
The leaflets are designed mainly to increase public awareness of Space. They are freely distributed at exhibitions, outreach and PR events and are aimed at a wide audience, ranging from school children to space enthusiasts and academics. In the first instance, the leaflet must quickly orientate the audience to its subject and purpose. This is done by using a well crafted title with carefully selected supporting images. Given the wide range and variety of interests of the audience, the leaflet provides different background information to satisfy almost everyone and is arranged in sections that are easy to follow.
